Kirsten Maiwald is an artist, educator, community-art strategist, and founder of Inspired by Optimism, an organization built on the belief that art is for everyone.Through Inspired by Optimism, Kirsten partners with schools, municipalities, nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders to transform shared ideas and personal stories into murals, public installations, and collaborative art experiences. With a background in art education, she creates welcoming opportunities for people of all ages and artistic abilities to participate, connect, and see themselves reflected in their communities.Kirsten is especially passionate about creating opportunities for young people, underserved populations, and voices that are often overlooked. Her work combines creativity, thoughtful planning, and collaboration to turn ambitious ideas into meaningful experiences.For Kirsten, the finished artwork is only part of the story. The greater impact comes from the relationships built, voices honored, and sense of belonging created when someone can look at a piece of art and say, “I helped create this. I am part of this story.”
